Falkirk 40K Open – 1500pt Tournament & Painting Competition

Join us for a day of dice, drama, and beautifully painted miniatures at the Falkirk 40K Open — a Warhammer 40,000 event designed for both casual and competitive players. Whether you’re pushing for the podium or just here for a fun day of games and hobby appreciation, you’ll find something to enjoy.

Event Overview

Event Date: 25th October 2025

Format: 1500pts, Warhammer 40,000 Matched Play 

List Rules: Latest Munitorum Field Manual & Core Rules

Games: 3 rounds

Round 1: Random pairings

Rounds 2 & 3: Swiss-style pairings

Missions & Cards: Using 2025/2026 Matched Play missions, including:

Deployment maps

Secondary Objective Cards

Challenger Cards

Game Time: 3 hours per round

Last 30 minutes: Complete your current battle round only

Lunch: Included with ticket  

Painting Competitions

The painting competition will feature three categories:

Best Painted 40K Squad (must be a minimum of 3 models and a legal 40K unit without an attached character or two armigers/chaos wardogs) – Prize support from Army Painter & Two Thin Coats

Best Single 40K Miniature (enter your best painted mini!) – Sponsored by Artis Opus Best Army – Exclusive to Arena's Escalation League participants and sponsored by Artis Opus

New! Entries for Best Single Miniature and Best Squad can be submitted independently of the tournament — so even if you’re not playing, you can still compete! 

Advance drop-off is available — ideal for those just entering the painting comp or who want to display their work ahead of time. Judged by: Award-winning painter Ben Porter (@ashenholdart) 

Ben will also be offering painting feedback for anyone looking to level up their hobby

Event Ethos & Terrain

This event is all about fun, camaraderie, and creativity. Expect a variety of terrain layouts built for engaging and exciting games. We encourage players to bring armies that showcase what they love — not just what wins. Style and theme over meta is highly encouraged!
